Part of the Nike Blazer family, this collection originally rolled out in 1972 as Nike’s first ever basketball sneaker. The sneaker was named after the Portland Trailblazers and has been refashioned to a low, medium, and high heights. George “The Iceman” Gervin had a soft spot for the Blazers and embraced it as his signature look. Quickly, the Blazer’s popularity exploded and over the years it transitioned from a high performance basketball sneaker to an every day shoe adored by thousands of fans. How do the Nike Blazer Low ’77 Vintage Look
White rubber outsoles on black shoes have such a clean and classic look. These Blazer Lows have a vulcanized outsole which just means that the upper, midsole, and outsole are glued and bonded by heat through an autoclave oven. The purpose is to make shoes more durable and sturdy over time.
Foxing tape is seen towards the front of the shoe for added durability. Its essentially just another piece of rubber to enforce binding between the upper and outsole.
The exposed foam tongue holds a classic patched Nike logo with a tan look. It’s a unique color contrast to the black and white. The tongue is really light and comfortable but still has good padding. It’s a good alternative vs. a stiffer traditional leather tongue.
The white laces that wrap over the foam tongue give the top of these blazers a lighter and softer look. I prefer the white laces over the black.
The collar is a standard leather wrap that can be a little stiff the first few times you wear these blazers.
The insoles are non removable and foam like with a terry cloth finish. Its a small detail but walking on terry cloth lining is very comfortable especially if you’ll be using these for commutes to work or long hours on your feet.

These blazers are a good alternative to the all white Nike Blazer Low’s that are extremely popular. The black and white lows are also a more affordable and more available substitute to the Nike Panda Dunks. You can find these at Nike and any retailer thats shipping Blazers for under $100. They are still one of Nike’s top sellers and for good reason.
Why You Shouldn’t Buy the Nike Blazer Low ’77 Vintage Men’s Shoe
If you’re not a fan of the low top version of the Blazer’s you should opt for the high tops. The high tops have a more athletic/basketball look with much better ankle support. If you want to ditch the old school and classic look altogether I would recommend the more modern version of the Blazers and check out the Jumbo‘s or the Premium SE Halloween. The sole is also hard and stiff so if you need more support look elsewhere.
