The Upper on the New Balance Tiago Lemos 1010
The upper of the New Balance Numeric Tiago Lemos 1010 have a ’90s-inspired themed design with a combination of suede overlays, mesh paneling, traditional lace up system, and iconic New Balance branding.
Suede Overlays: The Tiago Lemos 1010’s upper features suede overlays placed in high-wear areas. Suede is a durable and abrasion-resistant material that provides protection against grip tape abrasion and the wear and tear that comes with skateboarding. Also good for preventing scuffs walking to work or through the city. These overlays are often found around the toe area, allowing the shoe to last a bit longer.
Mesh Panels: Looped with the suede overlays are breathable open cell mesh panels. These panels are in place for two reasons: they enhance the shoe’s overall breathability, keeping your feet cool and contribute to the sneaker’s aesthetic. They basically look cool. The mesh not only adds a textural contrast but also provides a lightweight feel to the upper.
Iconic New Balance “N” Logo: As with many New Balance models, the iconic New Balance “N” logo is displayed on the sides of the shoe’s upper. The “N” isn’t oversized and fits well with the design.
The Collar on the Tiago Lemos 1010
The collar padding on the Tiago Lemos 1010 is a standout feature. New Balance added additional padding on the notches which supports the achilles in the back of the shoe.
The tongue and the collar are both extremely soft and pillowy and you instantly feel the support the second you put these on.
Can’t say enough about how comfortable the fit is. Definitely our favorite part of the shoe.
The Difference in Toe Box
All colors of the Tiago Lemos come with a reinforced toe cap. Built for skateboarders to protect against toe impact, this also helps with long term durability.
The toe caps on both versions are the same but the toe boxes are slightly different. The white and black Tiago Lemos come with a classic retro style perforated toe box. Unlike the olive and grey Tiago Lemos, the mesh material on the white and black versions end at the tongue and does not extend to the toe cap. Its a slightly stiffer fit.
The Olive and grey Tiago Lemos 1010 have the mesh materials extend all the way from the tongue to the toe box.
You can feel the difference when you have the olive and grey Tiago Lemos 1010 on feet. Since the shoe has less materials to break up the tongue and toe box there is more flexibility with the mesh going from top to bottom. You can also feel much more air pass through.
Its unclear why the materials aren’t consistent with each color set but both versions are comfortable. But the olive and grey stand out as the better fit and feel with more ventilation.
The Fantom Fit Technology
New Balance Tiago Lemos 1010 include Fantom Fit technology. This is the gray part above the heel and is labeled in bold popping print.
Fantom Fit technology eliminates the need for traditional stitching and seams in the upper of the shoe. Instead, it uses fused or bonded overlays and materials to create a seamless, one-piece upper. Also called a “no sew” upper. This helps with irritation inside the shoe, and gives a smoother, more comfortable fit. Its also lighter, flexible, and more breathable because theres less material to work with.
The Fantom Fit with the mesh paneling is a great feeling combo.
New Balance Numeric Tiago Lemos 1010 Soles
The outsole of the Tiago Lemos 1010 is one big piece of rubber. It leverages the Ndurance technology designed to provide exceptional durability, built for frequent use and extended wear. It may feel like a regular rubber outsole but the Ndurance tech is proven to live longer than standard rubber soles. It also helps with weight distribution since Ndurance rubber is placed in specific areas of the outsole. Stating the obvious but the traction is great, as it was originally built for skateboarders.
The 1010 features cupsole technology and a dual-density FuelCell midsole. FuelCell foam is engineered to provide a high level of energy return. This means that when you compress the shoe, it quickly returns energy to your stride. This can help you maintain speed and reduce fatigue if you decide to pick up the pace during a walk or decide to take these for a run. The cushioning can also reduce stress on your joints and muscles. Another very cool feature to the 1010’s that make them very comfortable.
The Tongue on New Balance Numeric Tiago Lemos 1010
The collar on the 1010’s are wide and padded. Very fluffy feeling and the mesh provides great breathability. The rubber “Tiago” labeling at the top is sewed on but gives good contrast to the new sew upper. The tongue is extremely comfortable.

How to wear and style the New Balance Numeric Tiago Lemos 1010
The New Balance Numeric Tiago Lemos 1010 can be styled with skinny or wide fit pants. Since they’re a bulkier shoe the tongue naturally fits outside of the leg for skinnier fitting pants. I’d personally wear with wider fits like straight leg so the tongue isn’t exposed. It’s a wider based shoe so it will fit much better with a wider leg opening vs. a narrow taper.
How to lace the New Balance Numeric Tiago Lemos 1010
The classic lace up structure and the wideness of the Tiago Lemos 1010 give you options on how to lace them. If you lace through all of the eyelets and tighten all the way it does take away the wide/fatter look. If you wear with wider fitting pants I wouldn’t lace through all of the eyelets so the width of the shoe is a little wider. If you decide to wear tighter fitting pants lace through all eyelets so the width of the shoe comes in a bit.
Why You Should Buy New Balance Tiago Lemos 1010

Why You Shouldn’t Buy New Balance Tiago Lemos 1010
- Want a shoe thats less chunky
