About Original Adidas Forum Low Casual Shoe

Originally released in the early 80’s, the Forums were adidas’ first ever basketball sneaker that came in low, mid, and high styles. Worn by NBA stars Patrick Ewing and even Michael Jordan during the USA world trials before the 1984 olympics, the Forums were known for their traction and overall support. The velcro strap along with the bold adidas three stripe along the sides made the forums an instant classic. Over the next four decades the Forums transitioned to the skatepark due to their durability and grip and also became an everyday sneaker for casual sneaker lovers.

How do the Original Adidas Forum Low Casual Shoe fit

Pros

  • True to size fit
  • Has plenty of room with a wider fit
  • Great padding along the sides
  • Very sturdy feel. You can tell it was originally built for basketball
  • The leather upper is top quality
  • Very grippy slip resistant outsole

Cons

  • The end of the laces are too wide for the top eyelets. Very difficult to lace all the way
  • Since the forums are a wider fit they can look clunky with certain styles of pants, especially skinny or narrow fits.

What makes this version of the Forums unique is the strapless look. The first ever Forums included a strap that came across the top of the tongue for added ankle support. The cool grey upper leather is coated and has a unique feel and look. Its soft and suede like, but still durable and plush.

The leather collar has padding but it’s built for performance and can be a little rigid.

Logos Throughout

Theres no shortage of adidas logos and branding throughout the Low Forums. The tongue has a popping blue trefoil logo with additional logos on the side and midsole. The gold trefoil logo stamp along the sides clashes really well with the cool grey leather. The translucent midsole has a trefoil logo towards the back of the shoe. The outsole has mini trefoil logos all over.

Plenty of leather overlays that intertwine from the front of the shoe to the back of the heel.

The Lace Situation

The aglet and sail laces on the Original Adidas Forum Low Casual Shoe

The end of the shoe lace, or aglet, is very thick and should be a bit skinnier to lace through the top eyelet.

The final eyelet of the Original Adidas Forum Low Casual Shoe

The final eyelet is located on an eye-stay leather flap. The eyelet is too narrow and very difficult to lace up. As a result I was only able to wear the Low Forums without lacing through the final eyelet.

The white stitching almost wraps around the entire midsole and makes the midsole pop a little more. The stitching is used to hold the leather upper in place to the sole to prevent early wear and tear.

Why You Should Buy Original Adidas Forum Low

This specific version of the Original Adidas Forum Low in solid grey and carbon are an awesome color combination and unique version of a classic shoe. If you’re into that, these are for you. They have awesome grip and sturdiness.

Why You Shouldn’t Buy Original Adidas Forum Low

The Adidas Forum Low are chunky and wide, so if you’re looking for a slimmer shoe I’d look elsewhere. They fall in the skateboard style category so thats not for everybody.

Final Suggestions

The Original Adidas Forum Low for the Office: Recommend. Originally built as a basketball sneaker that graduated to the skatepark, these can take a beating. Great for a long walking commute or long day on your feet.

The Original Adidas Forum Low for Casual Setting: Recommend. Can go with most pants but since they’re chunkier they go best with looser fits.

The Original Adidas Forum Low for Lounging: Highly Recommend. Goes great with sweats.
